CONTACT LENSES

With millions of Canadians wearing them, Contact Lenses remain a popular form of corrective eyewear. They are a convenient, comfortable and safe alternative to glasses.

FVC offers disposable, bifocal, toric, rigid, specialty and coloured contact lenses in almost any shade. FVC carries the most popular brands - Night and Day, O2 Optix, SofLens, Acuvue, Biomedics, and many more.

Do's & Don'ts of Contact Lens Wear
Contact lenses, properly prescribed and properly maintained, will provide you with safe and comfortable vision. Precautions should be followed to ensure your safe and successful contact lens wear. Here are some dos and don'ts to keep in mind to increase the comfort, performance and safety of your contact lenses:
Do be sensible about proper hygiene. Wash your hands with mild non-cosmetic soap and dry with a lint-free towel.
Do remember that progress checks are mandatory and you should wear you contacts for at least 4 hours before your visit.
Do keep lenses wet at all times. Carry an emergency case filled with rinsing solution with you.
Do always be consistent in which lens you insert and remove first. This will eliminate inserting the wrong lens in the wrong eye and prevent the spread of germs and infection.

Do have a yearly exam even if the lenses feel comfortable. You are able to judge the comfort of the contact lenses and clarity of vision, but not the health of your eyes.
Don't exceed your wearing schedule. If you have a break in your schedule due to illness, etc., reduce your wearing time and build it gradually.
Don't substitute solutions. Improper solution may damage lens materials.
Don't store your lenses with tap water or saliva. This can cause a bacterial infection.
Don't use eyedrops or apply medications with lenses in your eyes.
Don't reuse the solution. Replace it every day.
Don't tolerate discomfort. Remove the lens immediately and inspect for nicks, tears, foreign matter or an inside out lens. If the discomfort persists, discontinue wear and contact your optometrist.
